    Liposuction

    1. Liposuction is a surgery that reshapes the body through the removal of excess fat from the selected areas

    3. Liposuction has a very high patient satisfaction and is equally very safe in the experienced hands
    4. The surgery is performed through cannulas inserted in the deep fat layers so that the blood supply to the superficial fatty layer and the skin is protected

    6. The procedure can be performed entirely under local anesthesia but in our center, we recommend general anesthesia or epidural anesthesia for our patients
    7. After assessing the fitness for surgery and detailed discussions on the expectations of the patients in the initial consultations, the patient is seen by the anesthesiologist one day before surgery
    8. Markings will be made on the day of surgery and the patient will be subjected to anesthesia
    9. Tumescent fluid will be injected into the areas where liposuction is to be performed
    10. By making 3to 5 mm incisions the cannulas will be introduced and the fat will be removed
    11. After the procedure compression dressings will be placed in the treated areas
    12. Patients will be mobilized from bed as early as possible and will be discharged in the next 2 to 3 days
    13. Daily routine can be started in a 7 to 10-day period
    14. The patients have to wear compression garments for a period of 3 to 4 months

    Abdominoplasty

    1. Abdominoplasty removes excess fat from the abdomen and tightens stretched or weak abdominal MUSCLES
    2. One can undergo abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, if he or she has any problems like, loose or sagging abdominal skin, abdominal muscles that have been weakened by pregnancy, or excess fatty tissue in the abdomen that does not respond well to exercise.
    3. A long horizontal incision is made from hip to hip just above the pubic area, and another incision is made around the navel to free it from the surrounding skin.
    4. Stretched or weakened abdominal muscles are tightened and secured with sutures.
    5. Excess skin is then removed.
    6. The remaining abdominal skin is stretched back down over the abdomen and the incision is stitched closed
    7. A new opening is created for the naval and umbilicoplasty is done
    8. The surgery is done under General anesthesia with the Foleys catheter placed in the bladder
    9. Someone who expects absolute perfection is not a good candidate for Liposuction.
    10. It usually takes 2 to 3 hours for the procedure

    13. Sedentary work is started at 2 to 3 weeks

    Scar Revision

    1. The quality and the quantity of scarring after any injury is different from person to person
    2. Scar revision is done after the body has had time to heal itself and usually it takes 4 to 6 months for it to happen
    3. Scar revision surgery is usually done to minimize the scar and is matched with the texture and colour of the surrounding skin
    4. Stretched or weakened abdominal muscles are tightened and secured with sutures.
    5. One must understand that the scars cannot be completely removed but can be minimized to look better than before
    6. Keloid scars are a result of the skin’s overproduction of collagen after a wound has healed.
    7. These scars generally appear as growths in the scar site.
    8. Hypertrophic scars, unlike keloids, do not grow out of the borders of the scar area, but because of their thick, raised appearance, can be Cosmetically unacceptable
    9. Keloid or hypertrophic scars are managed with steroid injections
    10. Only very prominent scars are removed as a last resort, to make them less prominent scars
