1.As you get older the eyelids become lax and become puffy giving you a dull look to others
2.When you look into the mirror the iris of the eye should be abutting upper and lower eyelids and the white of the eye the sclera is not visible when looking straight either below or above the eyelids
3.In old age as there is laxity of the skin of the upper and lower eyelids
4.There is excess skin of the lids with fat accumulation and there is laxity of the lower eyelid also
5.Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty ) is the procedure that removes excess skin, fat or MUSCLE from droopy upper and lower eyelids.
6.The surgery is done in both males and females
7.You will be examined to exclude any thyroid diseases, graves disease, hypertension and diabetes and DRY EYES and glaucoma
8.The Procedure is usually done under general or Local anaesthesia
9.If you are a fit candidate for eyelid surgery incisions will be made along the line creases of the upper eyelid and possibly along the outer lower rim of the eye's skin.
10.These incisions often reach the outer corners of the eyes.
11.The surgeon then divides the fatty tissue and MUSCLE from the skin so that excess skin, fat or muscle can be removed.
12.There will be some swelling, bruising and/or irritation after your eyelid surgery.
13.Cold compresses help with swelling, and soothing ointment can reduce any irritation at the incision sites.
14.All these swelling and bruising will improve in 15 days
1.Suture removal is done on the 5th day
2.Even though you can start working from the 5th day it is better you resume your activities after 2 weeks
3.The results are seen after 2 months
4.Sun protection is needed for 6 months with Sunscreens
